Deacons
Deacons - Deacons are one of the only two biblical offices of the church. The Deacons have been chosen and ordained by the church to serve and assist the Pastor as spiritual leaders for the members. They help look over the flock and are to have “charge over sick and needy members.” Along with ministering to the needs of church members, they also assist the pastor in carrying out the two ordinances of the church, Baptism and Communion. Overall, deacons assist the pastor in advancing the general interest of the church, and in the absence of a pastor, “it becomes the duty of the deacons to conduct meetings and services and to provide for supplying of the pulpit.” The deaconesses assist the deacons in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the diaconate. We believe desirous traits of deacons and deaconesses are that they are Spirit-filled and Spirit-led, are dependable, discreet and of good moral character.
